A three-day Fuzhou itinerary that balances heritage lanes, a mountain temple, classical gardens, night-market food, and riverfront pacing.

This extended Fuzhou route adds Drum Mountain, West Lake, and Shangxiahang to the old-lanes-and-riverfront core, giving the city enough room to show its full range without overpacking any single day.

Day-by-Day

Day 1 — Heritage lanes, West Lake, and evening food markets

Anchor the first day around Fuzhou’s two strongest urban heritage districts and the classical lake garden in between.

Morning

West Lake Park and Fujian Museum

Start with a calm loop through the park and a visit to the free provincial museum before the lanes get busier.
Late morning to afternoon

Sanfang Qixiang

Walk southeast from West Lake into the historic lane district. Keep a full block here for courtyards, tea rooms, and lunch.
Evening

Shangxiahang evening

Shift to Shangxiahang for night-market street food and the contrast between residential and commercial old Fuzhou.

Day 2 — Drum Mountain, temple lunch, and riverfront reset

Use the second day for the city’s strongest nature and spiritual segment, then let the evening decompress by the river.

Morning to early afternoon

Drum Mountain and Yongquan Temple

Take the ancient stone trail or cable car up. Allow time for the temple, the vegetarian lunch, and the Eighteen Scenic Spots trail.
Evening

Min River riverfront

After a physical morning, use the riverfront promenade as a gentle reset before dinner.

Day 3 — Forest walkway, jasmine tea, and flexible finish

Keep the final day lighter with a modern urban trail and room for tea culture or personal exploration.

Morning

Fudao Forest Walkway

Walk a 3-5 km section of the elevated canopy trail for a different angle on Fuzhou’s greenery.
Afternoon

Jasmine tea tasting or free exploration

Use the afternoon for a jasmine-tea workshop, Shoushan stone carving browsing, or returning to a favorite neighborhood from earlier days.

Transport Notes

Most of this itinerary is walkable or reachable by short taxi rides within central Fuzhou. Drum Mountain is about 20 minutes by taxi from the city center; buses 7, 29, and 36 also reach the base.

Packing Notes

Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Bring a light layer for the Drum Mountain trail and sun protection for the Fudao walkway.
